Peripheral Vision & Tania Gill Trio

July 2 @ 9:30 pm - 11:30 pm

TANIA GILL (piano and compositions), LINA ALLEMANO (trumpet), and ROB CLUTTON (bass) play trio versions of old and new originals, including music from their most recent Quartet album Disappearing Curiosities, "a terrific form of modern jazz, which cleverly and completely effortlessly balances between modern jazz and the more unpredictable avant-garde" -Ivan Rod, DK. “Her writing for this quartet is pithy and elegant, blending sophisticated, measured arrangements with highly tuneful pieces vividly brought to life...".  – Peter Margasuk, The Quietus.

Peripheral Vision is one of the most exciting and innovative jazz quartets on the international jazz scene, performing together for 15 years. Based in Toronto, Canada, the creative leaders of the group are long-time musical collaborators, guitarist Don Scott and bassist Michael Herring. They have assembled a synergistic musical unit designed to push the boundaries of jazz while engaging the listener with a grooving, toe-tapping immediacy. Their distinctive musical voice bridges tradition and innovation, with deeply felt influences ranging from jazz, rock, classical, and improv, with a focus on dynamic group interaction. Scott and Herring are joined by saxophonist Trevor Hogg and drummer Nick Fraser.

Peripheral Vision is excited to have released their Canada Council for the Arts funded multi-media project, We’ve Got Nothing, featuring live videos filmed at the Tranzac, and an accompanying CD release.
