The Titillators

"The Titillators create odd, unique, beautiful, and fun music by way of whistling, synthesizers, an assortment of percussion objects, and Driver’s homemade “streetsweeper bristle bass,” which is simply a small tine of metal manipulated on top of an amplified cigar box. Their first performances (and first album) consisted of reimaginings of classic jazz repertoire (Mingus, Ellington, etc.). These days, The Titillators are focused on playing an eclectic and growing collection of new songs by Ryan Driver which also embrace, allude to, and/or playfully subvert jazz and other historically popular musics. This repertoire, performed on this odd combination of instruments by uniquely creative people with high-level musicianship (and wildly adventurous improvisatory spirits) leads to truly unprecedented music, full of surprises and delights. The Titillators third album, That’s The Night, was released on Tin Angel Records.
