Arcángel Gabriel & The Marikass Collective

"Arcángel Gabriel & The Marikass Collective Join us Saturday, November 7th from 7:30 to 9:30pm for a live rehearsal residency experience exploring diasporic soundscapes from South America to Tkaronto, rooted in radical and liberatory artistic practices.

Featuring:

Sélavi is a Tkaronto-born self-taught singer, songwriter and producer. Sélavi's sound is an eclectic palette of neo-soul & hip-hop, brushed with acid jazz, and a dash of jungle. She experiments with sampling and uses sound and lyrics to explore the nuances of emotion and existentialism.

Musa May Cry is an alternative R&B musician based in Toronto by way of Kisii, Kenya. Ever-fascinated by the richness of heartbreak and TwentySomething’s melancholia, Musa’s EP Ultramarine Boy hopes to offer something new to the canon of sad-boy Toronto R&B tradition.

Krish is a sound artist and composer. At present, his practice involves mangling field recordings, synthesizers and programmed drums to explore themes of friction, tension and submission.

Gabe or Arcángel Gabriel, is a queer Chilean artist, cook, astro/tarot lover, and settler in Tkaronto, Turtle Island. Raised in the Atacama Desert in Chile and relocating to Tkaronto at seventeen, Gabe believes in queer expression, storytelling, and spirituality as means for revolution and liberation.

Marikass is a Latinx youth-led collective of queer artists and community organizers in Tkaronto. Founded in January 2023, we were born from a deep need to uplift, advocate for, and celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ voices—specifically within Latin indigenous communities. Since then, we have evolved into a diverse collective of first-generation and immigrant artists, performers, and visionaries from across the BIPOC diaspora. We believe in the power of connection and storytelling through art, music, performance, and food to build supportive, joyful communities."

Arcángel Gabriel & the Marikass Collective — An experimental live music residency centering QTBIPOC artists through collaborative rehearsals, jam sessions, and an evolving fusion of Latin rhythms and diasporic sounds, electronic experimentation, hip-hop, rap, spoken word, and drag performance.
