Call for Visual Artists to Exhibit at Tranzac

Are you looking to show your work in a non-commercial space? Tranzac is inviting artists whose work may not fit within conventional galleries or presentation spaces to apply for a month-long art show in Tranzac's Southern Cross and Main Hall.

Please note: this call is intended for local artists (based in Toronto and nearby - within 100 km); if you live further away and are selected for an art show you will be asked how you intend to travel to Toronto for installation and de-installation.

We welcome a wide range of artistic practices, including painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, mixed media and textiles, provided the work can be safely and adequately displayed using Tranzac's clip-and-wire hanging system.

In total, there are five walls in use for art shows at Tranzac (three in the Southern Cross and two in the Main Hall) on which to display art work. Artists are encouraged to visit the space to get a sense of light and dimensions before planning their show. The wall space accommodates approx 15 - 30 pieces of art (total) depending on the size of pieces. Artists can apply together to share a show.

Applications will first be reviewed to ensure they meet the logistical, installation and exhibition requirements of Tranzac's visual art exhibition program. Eligible applications will then be entered into a lottery for selection.

Tranzac reserves the right to decline work that cannot be safely installed, is incompatible with the exhibition space, or is otherwise unsuitable for public display within the venue.

Please note if you are selected through the lottery this year you will not be eligible to apply next year. This is to ensure that more artists have an opportunity to show their work at Tranzac.

Tranzac's Southern Cross is an accessible space, on the main floor; washrooms are accessible.
