Part of the residency Doug Tielli and ...
Southern Cross
The silt recollect themselves to celebrate their afterlife as the new year takes its first wobbly steps. Come join Doug Tielli, Ryan Driver and Marcus Quin as they musically and sonically peruse grit, wildness, lack of polish and the joyful bewilderment in the spaces that emerge between imagination and ability. Expect a healthy does of classic silt songs and a few new entries into the silt canon.
Song, composition and sounds from many angles. Doug’s music is comfortably and uncomfortably amorphous, settled and unsettling, hypnotic and surprising , from glacial slaw to grooving- in and out of genres from folk, quasi-ambient, pop, jazz, and through-composition tethered together and pulled apart by the threads and ruptures of improvisation. Each night of this residency will feature dynamic improvising musicians whose unique voices will allow new musical material to grow, find itself, lose itself, take on new meanings and shift kaleidoscopically.
