"Howard Gladstone & the Band return to the Tranzac Club for the February edition of their ongoing monthly residency, joined by special guest James Gordon.

Now in its eighth year, this monthly Sunday afternoon series has become a space for attentive listening, strong songwriting, and musical conversation. Gladstone is joined each month by his core band — Tony Quarrington, Laura Fernandez, Bob Cohen, and Ambrose Pottie — with featured guest artists appearing throughout the year.

February’s guest, James Gordon, is one of Canada’s most respected and influential songwriters. A founding member of Tamarack, Gordon has built a career marked by clarity, wit, and social conscience. His songs — including Frobisher Bay, Mining for Gold, and Harvest Train — have become part of the Canadian folk canon and have been recorded by artists such as Stan Rogers, Cowboy Junkies, and James Keelaghan.

Gordon’s writing is known for its intelligence and humanity — observant without cynicism, political without slogans, and deeply rooted in lived experience. He returns to the Tranzac following a memorable appearance last year.

Howard Gladstone is a singer/songwriter with a residency on the “first Sunday of every month” in the Southern Cross Room. He performs original material in the folk, roots, jazz, vein along with stellar accompanists Tony Quarrington (guitar) and Bob Cohen (bass). Most months also feature a Special guest performer to add spice and interest and keep it extra fresh. Howard has released eight albums or original material and continues to add new songs to his repertoris and performances. What to expect? The Toronto Star stated: “If you heard this music in a crowded room, you’d swear it was a lost gem from another time.”
