"This solo performance will feature duduk player, Sar Kamler. Kamler brings jazz and classical performance technique alongside traditional Armenian repertoire. This 1,200-year-old double reeded woodwind instrument is not to be missed!

Since 2019, Kamler has captivated Toronto audiences through groundbreaking collaborations, including the ""Armenia Meets Cuba"" project with world renowned jazz pianist Hilario Duran and his ongoing ""Café Duduk"" duo with pianist Viktor Kott.

Expect an intimate gathering with gathering space for learning and sharing modal music."

Makam Nights is an open space dedicated to sharing knowledge of makam music. Each session we will have different musicians join us in discussion and performance, so bring your curiosity, instruments and ideas to share! No limitations to instruments or training, we welcome experimentation and cross-cultural collaboration. This event is pay what you can, with no one turned away for lack of funds.
