Mariam Shakaa is a Palestinian oud player and singer, whose music bridges heritage, emotion,and innovation. A winner of the International Oud Competition, and first-place recipient of Palestine’s vocal Competition, Shakaa has established herself as one of the most promising young voices in contemporary Arabic music.

Makam Nights is an open space dedicated to sharing knowledge of makam music. Each session we will have different musicians join us in discussion and performance, so bring your curiosity, instruments and ideas to share! No limitations to instruments or training, we welcome experimentation and cross-cultural collaboration. This event is pay what you can, with no one turned away for lack of funds.
