Makam Nights: Lamia Yared and Araz Salek

"Labyrinth Ontario is pleased to welcome back Lamia Yared!

Lebanese singer and oud player Lamia Yared works within the repertoires of classical Arabic and Ottoman music. For more than fifteen years, her work has focused on research, interpretation, and creation around the musical traditions of the Levant, as well as their connections with Ottoman, Persian, and medieval repertoires.

Joining us from Montréal, Lamia has previously guided the Labyrinth Ensemble through two intensives at the Aga Khan Museum. For this more intimate show, she will be performing as a duo with Araz Salek!

We hope you will join us next month for this special reunion:

•July 16 •Tranzac Living Room (292 Brunswick) •8pm-9:30pm •Pay What You Can"

Makam Nights is an open space dedicated to sharing knowledge of makam music. Each session we will have different musicians join us in discussion and performance, so bring your curiosity, instruments and ideas to share! No limitations to instruments or training, we welcome experimentation and cross-cultural collaboration. This event is pay what you can, with no one turned away for lack of funds.
