This June 2026, Opera Queens proudly brings back our 2nd ""PROUD VOICES"" open mic and cabaret, celebrating Pride. Write Queen@OperaQueens.ca to join our open mic setlist - all genres (music, poetry, spoken word, drag, dance, etc.) accepted! A microphone and pianist will be provided.
Music by headliner and hostess with the mostest Tanya Smania includes selections from opera and musical theatre including the great divas Norma Desmond, Tosca, and Lola/Simon from “Kinky Boots”.
Tanya Smania (she/them) has been seen and heard ‘round the globe from the Canadian Opera Company and Halifax Pride to the UK, Europe, the States, and Australia. Signature roles include Tchaikovsky’s Tatyana, Bizet’s Carmen, and Mozart’s Queen of the Night.
Opera Queens presents classical vocal music presented in FULL COLOUR - QTBIPOC in drag, gender-bent, and queerified. Sorry, Timmy Chalamet - opera is awesome and we’re dragging it kicking and screaming into the 21st century in the way it should be be - inclusive, accessible, and fun! Join us the first Saturdays of until September from 5-7 PM as we welcome Toronto’s finest QTBIPOC special guests crossing disciplines up close and personal - no mics and low tech, but high camp and drama!
