"Opening - Angelica Zavala Quartet
Angelica Zavala is a recording and touring drummer of Honduran descent, based in Toronto. Her debut EP, All I Know Is Now, is a reflection on identity, transition, and emotional presence. Rooted in deep groove, this project offers a rich sound shaped by a curiosity for texture, rhythm, musical storytelling, and blends both acoustic and electric elements for what she likes to call alternative jazz. With a focus on honest connection and creative risk-taking, the band creates a space where vulnerability and groove meet. She will be joined by Steve Carson on tenor saxophone, Jesse White on guitar, and Alex McPherson on bass where they will explore original compositions and standards.
This month, with Don and Nick away, Peripheral Vision will play as “Hogg/Harley/Herring” - Trevor Hogg (saxophone) and Michael Herring (double bass) from Peripheral Vision, will play with guest guitarist Harley Card. We’ll also invite drummer Angelica Zavala to play with us. "
